Emoji Cipher Puzzle Builder

An emoji cipher replaces letters with a chosen emoji key. It is a puzzle, not secure encryption. Edit the key, encode a short message, and use the same key to decode it.

Build a reversible puzzle

Letter key

One recognized emoji cluster per letter. Duplicate symbols stop conversion. This is not secure encryption.

A letter key, not a translation

The tool maps A through Z to distinct emoji sequences. It does not decide the meaning of a sentence. All input letters become uppercase before encoding. Spaces, line breaks, digits and punctuation stay visible. Non-English letters are left unchanged. This makes the rule easy to explain to a group. A participant should solve a substitution puzzle, not guess a private set of emotional associations.

Give each letter a unique symbol

Two letters cannot share one key symbol if you want a reversible puzzle. Each key field must contain exactly one recognized emoji grapheme. A family sequence is one possible symbol even though it contains several code points. Duplicate entries stop conversion and identify the conflicting key. A copied key is essential: changing the symbols after printing the puzzle changes the answer. Download a text key for the host or copy it into a private note.

Start with a fair clue

A short message with repeated letters gives a solver patterns to examine. Give the full key for younger players. For a harder puzzle, reveal only selected mappings on a printed handout. Avoid placing a needed letter outside the alphabet the tool handles. Try encoding, decoding and comparing the result before distributing your puzzle. The decoded result will use uppercase letters; the original letter case is not preserved.

Do not hide private information with this

A substitution puzzle exposes word lengths, spaces and repeated characters. It is not an access-control system. The browser can show the key to anyone using the page, and a simple message can often be guessed. Keep passwords, addresses and personal records out of puzzles. The tool processes the message locally and exports only when asked. If the input already contains a symbol in the key, encoding stops to prevent it from being mistaken for a letter during decoding.
